Judge Ferguson serves as a special/private judge, arbitrator, mediator, and trial consultant, resolving lawsuits quickly, efficiently, and free of public scrutiny while minimizing litigation expense.
He is the only Texas special judge/arbitrator who is board certified in both Family Law and Judicial Administration.
Former district judge with 20 years in private practice and 13 years of judicial experience including a 9 year standing assignment to the 8th Court of Appeals. Judge Ferguson is board certified in both Family Law and in Judicial Administration -- the only Texas private judge or arbitrator to hold this distinction.
2025 recipient of the Judge Merrill Hartman Pro Bono Judge Award, and named a 2025 ABA Legal Rebel. 2024 recipient of the Dan Price Award for family law, the Robert R. Dawson Award for criminal law, the Texas Bar College Pat Nester Top Speaker Award for legal education, and Texas Center for the Judiciary Exemplary Speaker Award for judicial education.
Elected to the governing boards for the Family Law, GPSOLO, Judicial, and Computer & Technology Sections. Appointed to the Texas Access to Justice Commission, Texas Children's Commission, SBOT Court Rules Committee, Judicial Committee on Information Technology, A.I. Taskforce (TRAIL), and Texas Bar Foundation. Serves as chair of numerous Supreme Court and SBOT committees and subcommittees.
